NACE Corrosion Testing

Corrosion Experts - Consulting and Testing Services

We provide many of the most common, and some of the rarer, NACE corrosion tests. A few common tests we offer include:

NACE TM0177 Laboratory Testing

We routinely provide NACE TM0177 corrosion analysis, including sample preparation, providing custom gases as needed, and sample evaluation after testing.

NACE TM0193 Laboratory Testing

NACE TM 0193 is specifically focused on measuring the effect of various cleaning chemicals on corrosion.

NACE TM0284 Laboratory Testing

NACE TM0284 is the most common test for hydrogen-induced cracking. Many carbon steels are susceptible to hydrogen-induced cracking. Exposure to H2S results in the formation of molecular hydrogen at discontinuities, leading to internal cracking. Often the cracks form a stepwise or linear path in the material, known as stepwise cracking. In other conditions, the orientation of stress has a more profound effect on the cracking, leading to a cracking pattern known as stress oriented hydrogen induced cracking (SOHIC). Test samples are usually run for 4 days (96 hours) with a 1 bar pressures of hydrogen sulfide in the environment; however for more detailed testing analysis the test can be run for 30 days or more, sometimes at reduced partial pressures. As the partial pressure goes lower, the time required for testing generally increases.

US Corrosion Services labs performs SOHIC and HIC testing for companies around the world, on materials of all types. Whether it’s pipes, flanges, valves, fittings, or tubing, we can help you quickly evaluate your materials. Once the testing is complete, we evaluate metallographic samples to determine the nature and length of the cracking.

Stress-Oriented Hydrogen-Induced Cracking (SOHIC) Testing Lab

US Corrosion performs SOHIC testing in accordance with the NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 test methods. Our analysis includes the NACE TM0316 Four Point Bend Test, BS 8701 Full Ring Test, and the NACE TM0177 Method A Tensile Test. Our prices are highly competitive and our service is friendly! We also offer accelerated tests that can be performed in 1-4 days for rush circumstances; however, these are still being developed as a NACE certified standard.

NACE TM0177 Laboratory Testing Expertise

We don’t just test – we answer and explain! Our experts can help you understand and deal with the testing results. We even provide expert witness services if you end up in litigation. Ready to start? Contact us now for a quote or fill out this form:
