Analytical Testing for Food Contamination
Often the contaminants are very small, but our experts can still evaluate them and help you track down the offending sources of that contamination. We do this using methods including electron microscopy, microhardness testing, and optical microscopy with microstructure assesment. In the images below, a set of metal filings and debris are shown as recovered from a magnetic in the factory. The particles were isolated and mounted in a hard plastic for metallographic preparation to expose the metal underneath of a coating of food particles, and in the right image one of the individual particles is shown as it was being evaluated in the electron microscopy:
