Fast Tests for Sour Corrosion Cracking
Operations in sour (high levels of H2S) service conditions is difficult and expensive; and when parts break, you need replacements fast. Unfortunately, the typical sour corrosion tests take 30 days or more, resulting in extensive challenges related to materials storage, operational delays, and costs. Our technology can speed that up dramatically.
Rapid Sour Corrosion Cracking Analysis
US Corrosion employs the patented RSL method for rapid sour corrosion testing. The RSL method allows for rapid, reproducible, and highly accurate analysis of various environmentally-assisted cracking (EAC) mechanisms. Examples of some different sample configurations for rapid testing are shown below. In these accelerated tests, we can quantitatively determine and rank different materials or coatings for their performance in EAC conditions.
Compliance with NACE MR0175 and ISO 15156
Qualification of materials in accordance with NACE MR0175 and the related ISO 15156 standard can help prevent cracking in sour (H2S) energy applications. We can help you test a wide range of steels and corrosion-resistant alloys to ensure they are appropriate for NACE MR0175. We also offer more advanced testing for evaluating specific environments and/or confirming the cause of a failure analysis.
